How is Cancer Patient Care funded?
Cancer Patient Care is funded through the generosity of the community. Individual donations, memorials, and honorariums make up the majority of our funding resources. We also receive grants and conduct special events.
How long has Cancer Patient Care been in existence?
Cancer Patient Care was formed in 1958.
Are you a national agency?
No. Cancer Patient Care is a local Inland Northwest agency with no national affiliation.
How much of my donated dollar stays in the
Inland Northwest?
All donations are totally local and 100% stays right here in the Inland Northwest.
What services does Cancer Patient Care provide?
Emotional support, food supplements, prescription
assistance, emergency assistance for heat, lights,
water and groceries, transportation to cancer related
appointments, breast cancer screening, health care
equipment from a loan closet, wigs, scarves, hats.
How much do you charge?
Our services are provided at no charge to qualified clients. To qualify, you must have a current, verified cancer diagnosis and meet current federal income guidelines.
Who are Cancer Patient Care’s clients?
Cancer Patient Care clients are active cancer patients and their families who are fighting the invisible burden of overwhelming debt. Often our clients were financially stable until cancer invaded their lives. CPC helps them meet their basic needs.
How many people do you serve each month?
We typically average between 200 and 300 clients a month. We also provide emotional support to the family and friends of the client, so the numbers of those we help varies widely.
Does Cancer Patient Care do cancer research?
No. When Cancer Patient Care was first founded we provided some funding for research. That aspect of our services has been gone since the mid-60’s when the Board of Directors saw the huge need of people who already had cancer. CPC provides for the immediate needs of people who are struggling with cancer right here in our community.
Is Cancer Patient Care a part of the American
Cancer Society?
No. CPC is a local non-profit agency and is not affiliated with the American Cancer Society. ACS is primarily involved in research while CPC provides direct services to cancer patients and their families.
How can I help Cancer Patient Care?
Financial contributions are always needed to help us fulfill our mission. Volunteering your time is another great way to help. Remembering Cancer Patient Care in your will enables you to continue supporting us after you are gone. You may also support CPC through Spokane County United Way.
